Scottish elm turned bowl. An incredible piece inspired by the Viking age. Turned from elm with turned beading detail around the top. The bowl has been decorated firstly with hand applied pyrography in a diagonal basket weave design. Each square has been connected with a bronze effect tack (945 altogether). After several coats of oil the pyrographed area has had a verdigris wax applied giving it an aged look. An English boxwood amulet is attached by a bronze stable. Viking bind-runes, hand applied with pyrography, are written on the amulet meaning Good Luck and Safe Travels. The round bottomed bowls sits on a beautiful carved and polished piece of Bog Oak.
Over all the thought is to present the look of a well preserved Viking artefact discovered in some long lost hoard.
Finished with several coats of oil and buffed. Approx size 125mm x 155mm∅
