OAK Neolithic Grooved ware

Turned from beautiful Scottish Oak. This round bottomed bowl is inspired by the Neolithic Grooved ware pottery. The decoration has been added using pyrography. The chevron pattern is very often found on the Grooved ware pottery (although most grooved ware has a flat bottom). The natural grain of the oak is stunning. The bowl sits on a ring made from an old prawn creel eye wrapped in red hemp. A piece that will create interest, but is also very tactile and should be handled and held in the palm of the hand. Finished with several coats of oil and buffed. 115mm x 150mm ∅
