Neolithic Triptych

A set of three associated Neolithic artistic pieces representing the theme that runs through Michaels work. They all have symbolic meaning, turned and carved from English boxwood the three pieces are The Odin Stone, a little Grooved ware pot and a Petrosphere. They are displayed on an ebonised ash base with carved detail highlighted in red. An Edinburgh hallmarked and makers mark silver staple is fixed on the side of the base.

There are also influences in this triptych from Barbara Hepworths work. A selection of her sculptures make up part of the permanent collection in the Pier Arts Centre Stromness.
