ORKNEY SYCAMORE ‘Grooved ware'

Turned from stunning local Orkney sycamore and inspired by the Neolithic Grooved ware pottery found on digs here in Orkney. The bowl has been turned with a large bead under the rim. The piece has then been decorated with grooves running down the bowl, a band of pyrography and the colour added is hematite, a colouring pigment used by the Neolithic people. Finished with several coats of oil and buffed. 125mm x 160mm
