ENGLISH BOXWOOD ‘Petrosphere' with 4 larger facets and smaller ones in-between, pyrography decoration, on an ebonised base. This Neolithic inspired ‘Petrosphere’ is turned from English boxwood and has 4 larger facets with smaller ones in-between. Michael begins by turning down a log of boxwood to the desired diameter as a cylinder. He then turns a sphere, followed by carving each facet, large and small, on the ‘Petrosphere' and, on this one, he has decorated each of the larger facets with pyrography. There is also a copper and resin repair with 5000 yr old bog oak studs at either end. These are very tactile objects. The stand is made from ebonised oak. The ‘petrosphere’ is approx. 65mm∅ and sits beautifully in the hand. These pieces are very decorative and will be sure to create a talking point in any home.
