ELM round bottomed bowl

This beautiful round bottomed bowl is turned from Scottish elm. It has been decorated with pyrography and carving around the rim. Below the rim there is the faint markings of the Unstan ware design, hand carved. Pottery has been found at The Ness of Brodgar with these faint markings, decoration where you almost have to hold the piece up to the light in order to see the detail. Other decoration includes 5000yr old bog oak studs and more pyrography detail. Displayed on a red hemp ring. Finished with several coats of oil and buffed. 115mm x 155mm∅
