Visit

Well for me!

At the beginning of October I went down to Derbyshire to visit Mum leaving MrOrkwoodturner and his dog at home.

Sleepy shed dog

My brud, his lovely wife, my niece and her boyfriend all came over too and we had a great week. We visited lots of places, did some spectacular walks and took in some culture.

Beautiful Derbyshire countryside and some iconic features seen everywhere

Lovely food and drink as is part of all holidays

Sheffield botanical gardens

A visit to the Yorkshire Sculpture park (something we generally do). The last photo is of us encountering the actual artist who designed this fantastic sculpture of an old Invacar. Tony Heaton. He was brilliant to listen to, interesting, very clever and so funny.

Some of the Barbara Hepworth statures were being worked on. I personally had never thought about the maintenance of the pieces out in the park. It was incredible to hear what they had to do to keep pieces looking as the artist intended. Apparently it was very important that the contrast in colours on these pieces was kept so what they were doing was re-blackening the base and then waxing it as a starter. Hours and hours of work. We usually visit The Hepworth Wakefield Gallery too, but didn’t have time😥

Chatsworth Park, always a family favourite, but so so busy.

An exhibition was running at The sculpture park by Takahashi McGil called Balance and Form. After I had some lunch I Facetimed MrOrkwoodturner and we decided on this piece.

It is now home and sits with other pieces in our collection.
