We have been enjoying a beautiful spell of spring weather which has encouraged lots of gardening and some great walks.
After mowing the wild flower areas the mower went off for a service. All ready for the season now. ð
We have been preparing the beds in the tunnels adding compost and horse manure. We have also started some seeds, broad beans, tomatoes, wild flowers etc.
The hedgehog has been out and about and he was caught on my new trail cam, along with some other garden visitors.
One of the male pheasants we get in the garden The little wren starting to build one of his nests. (busy boy) A female blackbird taking some seed. Visit into his little house for some food A nightly visit from the heron Rooks with stunning plumage Hedgehog on his rounds
Last Tuesday was a particularly stunning day so a friend joined me and Monty for a walk. We took a few treats and walked part of the St Magnus way. We walked Finstown to Orphir with Mr Orkwoodturner picking us up at the end.
It was an incredible walk and we will be doing more in the future.

View along the old Finstown road from Keelyland hill with a hazy Kirkwall in the distance Some highland cows enjoying the weather.
BUT the icing on the cake was tea. For Christmas we got an Ooni pizza oven and we decided to give it a go. Fantastic bit of kit, so easy to use, and it heated up really quickly. We had made the dough for the bases the night before from the Ooni recipe, which is also excellent and then added different things as toppings, mozzarella, different meats, anchovies, tomatoes etc. Finally after cooking we sprinkled on dressed rocket. ðĪŠððð. This is going to be a regular occurrence me thinks.
