Here we are in the middle of May and the weather is fantastic (just now anyway). Everywhere is beautifully green, the fields are full of lambs, more and more cattle are getting out into the fields from their winter housing and the pond is alive with tadpoles.
We have had a very sociable weekend. Friday evening marked the end of this camera club season with the yearly social event at The Standing Stones hotel, food, chat, trophy giving and a lot of hilarity. Saturday evening saw us take a run down to Burray in the south of Orkney to our friends Rosemary and Nick Moon to see their new greenhouse, meet Angela Clutton, up from London, (Borough Market) writing a book on vinegar, and came to visit Sam Britten to see how he does it, fascinating. Also present were another lovely couple from Orkney. This resulting in another evening of food, chat and again a lot of hilarity. Sunday – Michaels daughter Mik and her husband arrived with some friends they had met in Sweden and who were doing the North Coast 500 on their bikes. They had unexpectedly called Ross and had hopped across the water, for a coffee!!!!!, stayed over night and were having a look round Orkney. They were great fun, extremely interesting and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with them, little bit jealous as they rode off on their bikes, but we consoled ourselves and all tucked into pancakes with bacon and maple syrup.
In-between all this we were busy in the Gallery with lots of visitors from around the world. Looking forward to a busy summer.
