Visit

Yep it’s still early February, but time goes so quickly and before we know it Easter will be here. Although we stay open all year round and do have some great local customers we are  at our busiest from Easter through to September, or thereabouts, when people from all over the UK and the world come to soak up all our little islands have to offer.

We have joined The Orkney Tourist group this year. They have a very good informational website – visitorkney.com.

The 2018 Craft Trail Brochure is out now. This always goes down really well every year. A great way to visit makers and see their workshops, but also to see round Orkney and may be go a few places you wouldn’t have normally planned to see. We like to encourage visitors to come to our little part of Orkney, see the Gallery, meet Michael, look at the process from log to finished piece and even have a wander round the garden. For more information, have a look at Orkney designer crafts.

A couple of new things this year including launching the bronze ‘petrosphere’ and Michael being accepted onto The Register of Professional Turners. To read more about this have a read of the blog on OCA blog page where there is also lots of information about new and exciting things for other makers in Orkney.

The exhibition at The Old Library is getting lots of interest and continues until the 24th Feb when there is a meet the maker event in the afternoon.
