A bit of landscaping done by a friend of ours last night. This piece of field is above the house and has been used for many different things, dumping ground, storage area, veg plot, but now it is going to become a secluded garden.
A bund has been sculptured using the stoney earth topped with good top soil to form a sheltered area in the top right hand part of the field leaving the rest open for storing logs and trailer and playing ball with the dog.🐾
The center of the area I will mainly put under grass. The trees will be extended along the fence to shelter from the east. The back of the bund will be planted with wild meadow seed. The inside of the bund has a good layer of top soil and will be planted with flowering shrubs, foxgloves etc. for a riot of colour sheltered from the west and north west.
Ronnie has dug out a square in the bank and compacted the earth around it. This is for our ‘earth shed’ (construction not totally decided yet), but wood structure at the front, grass roof with a sky light (possibly washing machine door). Think it will develop as it’s constructed🤔😉😬, but it faces north west and is situated at the top of our land over looking towards Harray Loch and the sunsets and will be an excellent place to chill of an evening with a glass of wine 🍷👍
Now we are into September I think grass seed will be all that will be done, hoping it stays warm for a few weeks yet to give it a chance. There are a couple of shrubs in pots will benefit from getting in the ground sooner rather than later and then it can all be left to settle over the winter.
